Introduction

The XGRIDS Lixel K2 is a lightweight handheld 3D scanner designed for efficient reality capture in small to medium-sized environments. Combining LiDAR, visual sensing, SLAM-based positioning and built-in RTK, the Lixel K2 enables field operators to rapidly capture spatial data and generate high-quality 3D results.

Designed for surveying, construction, cultural heritage preservation, real estate measurement and engineering applications, the Lixel K2 provides a practical balance between portability, scanning efficiency and data quality.

Its multi-format output capabilities, including point clouds, Mesh and 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS), also allow captured data to be extended into digital twins, spatial visualization and VR/AR applications.

What Is Lixel K2?

The Lixel K2 is a handheld 3D reality capture device developed by XGRIDS for field-based scanning.

Unlike traditional surveying workflows that may require multiple devices and complicated setups, the Lixel K2 is designed to make 3D spatial data acquisition more portable and efficient.

It is particularly suitable for small to medium-sized indoor environments, as well as a range of field surveying and measurement applications.

Lightweight and Efficient 3D Scanning

One of the key advantages of the Lixel K2 is its compact handheld design.

Field operators can carry the device through buildings, rooms, construction sites and other environments to capture spatial information without relying on large stationary scanning systems.

The K2 supports a scanning distance of up to 40 meters at 10% reflectivity, with a point cloud frequency of 200,000 points per second and point cloud thickness of 1 cm or less under the manufacturer’s stated conditions.

This makes the Lixel K2 a practical solution for projects where mobility and fast data acquisition are important.

Multi-SLAM and Real-Time Spatial Capture

The Lixel K2 uses XGRIDS’ spatial capture technology to combine LiDAR and visual information for real-time 3D reconstruction.

During scanning, operators can monitor captured spatial data and adjust their scanning route according to the actual environment.

The built-in assisted scanning system in LixelGO can also provide real-time feedback about point-cloud density, helping operators identify areas that may require additional scanning.

Built-In RTK Positioning

Compared with the previous Lixel K1, the K2 introduces an integrated RTK module.

This provides more convenient positioning for supported outdoor workflows and reduces the need for an external RTK setup.

For applications that require geographic positioning, RTK can help connect captured 3D data with real-world coordinates when suitable RTK conditions are available.
